Rush hits it on the head, especially the polyester nightmares

RUSH: And you're really distressed because there may not be that there's a pro-life church, anymore. The left is taking over every institution. They have to be stopped, and it's about time, maybe... You know, I'm not trying to be Pollyannaish and look at the bright side of this (because I don't, frankly, see many) but one of them is: Don't doubt me anymore! It's out in front of your eyes! Believe what you see, believe what you hear. It is real! The Catholic Church has a bunch of leftists in it who would just as soon destroy the church and remake it, as the government has liberals in it who want to remake our government and destroy the Constitution. Liberals are liberals. They do not value institutions until they run them and remake them in their own way, and nothing is sacred. Not the Catholic Church, not the Methodist Church. Nothing! Zilch, zero, nada. I shouldn't have to say this, especially after this weekend. The real challenge -- and it's hard; I know it's hard -- is you can't believe that we've elected people to run this country who don't like it. Well, we did, but not on purpose. They were fooled, lied to, defrauded, everything else. So it's out there right in the open for everyone to see and take note of. They don't deserve to win another election ever. The country cannot withstand them winning another major election. Don't doubt me.

I was truly saddened and dissapointed to find out that the MANAGEMENT TEAM of the SISTER OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD, signed on in support of the Obominations health (abortion) bill, read it and weep for the polyester nighmares.

Why Nuns Support ObamaCare

59,000 nuns support ObamaCare, in the calm, cool ignorance that they will be the first ones up against the wall when the revolution comes.

Why would 59,000 nuns support ObamaCare in defiance of the USCCB?
The answer is simple really.

Most of the liberal orders of nuns are dying.

Nobody in these orders is under 60 years of age.
None of these orders have paid into Social Security, unemployment or Medicare/Medicaid.

They are due absolutely no government benefits.
In most cases, the dioceses aren't going to help them much, if at all.
Apart from those nuns who managed to earn a diocesan retirement because they worked in a diocese for awhile, no diocese has any financial obligation towards a member of a religious order.
Religious orders are supposed to take care of their own.

Now, in the past this worked out because the fresh blood coming in at the bottom would find employment somewhere in the Church and provide the necessary funds to keep open the religious orders' retirement homes. This cycle works great when you have a steady stream of young postulants, novices, etc.

Unfortunately, there aren't any new vocations in the liberal orders. Their old revenue stream is now as dry as the wombs of most of the post-menopausal Wicca worshippers; it's as out-of-date as the 1970's pantsuits that are their new traditional habit.

The truly sad thing is, some of the nuns trapped in these orders are still faithful to the Church - their order has just been destroyed by the Powers That Be(tm) who run their lives.

The rain fails to fall on both the just and the unjust.

In any case, every nun in every one of these dying orders is VERY worried about her retirement.

After a year of staring at the ticking clock on the wall, the same wall that Barack, Nancy and Harry have been running their heads into for the last year, the nuns are scared to death.

What if ObamaCare doesn't pass?

It's a positive nightmare.

From their point of view, government-run health care is their only ticket to a trouble-free old age. If they don't throw their weight aboard now, the train might never leave the station. So, they've climbed out and have begun to push.

They don't really give a damn about the women who will be injured by abortion or the children who will die as a result. Those young girls - both the girls in the womb and the women carrying them - were never going to join their Magic Circle novitiate anyhow. To hell with them.

What these Kumbaya creatures don't realize - or don't want to know - is that ObamaCare intends on solving the Medicare gap by euthanizing old people. Sister Sillypants had her fingers in her ears when Obama talked about euthanizing his own grandmother.

Obama is her only hope, and she has to count on likely dying before he gets the euthanasia panels fully operating. Or at least she can look forward to three hots and a cot while she waits for the pillow over her face.

So that's the great irony of the thing.

These nuns REALLY WILL be the first ones up against the wall.
And, deep in their hearts, they know it.
But now that they've given up on Christ, Obama is the only source of hope they have.
If they abandon him, to whom will they go?

Good Lord. They’re animals.
Pro-life Democrat Bart Stupak (D-MI) told National Review today that democratic leaders told him abortions are good because kids cost a lot of money.

Stupak notes that his negotiations with House Democratic leaders in recent days have been revealing. “I really believe that the Democratic leadership is simply unwilling to change its stance,” he says. “Their position says that women, especially those without means available, should have their abortions covered.” The arguments they have made to him in recent deliberations, he adds, “are a pretty sad commentary on the state of the Democratic party.”

What are Democratic leaders saying? “If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That’s one of the arguments I’ve been hearing,” Stupak says. “Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue — come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we’re talking about.”

If Obamacare passes, Stupak says, it could signal the end of any meaningful role for pro-life Democrats within their own party.

The House democrats are ready to pass the Senate health bill without voting on it.

Nun Volunteering as Abortion Clinic Escort in Illinois

By Kathleen Gilbert

HINSDALE, Illinois, October 23, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Dominican nun has been seen frequenting an abortion facility in Illinois recently - but not, as one might expect, to pray for an end to abortion or to counsel women seeking abortions, but to volunteer as a clinic escort.

Local pro-life activists say that they recognized the escort at the ACU Health Center as Sr. Donna Quinn, a nun outspokenly in favor of legalized abortion, after seeing her photo in a Chicago Tribune article.

"I've called her sister several times, and she never responded," local pro-lifer John Bray told LifeSiteNews.com (LSN). "But it's her."

Amy Keane, a pro-life witness for 11 years, says Quinn has acted as escort for "six years, at least." Keane described one incident in which Quinn began shouting at the pro-lifers as they spoke to a woman about to enter the abortion facility.

"[Quinn] was so angry, and burst out very loudly so everyone could hear: 'Look at these men, telling these women what to do with their bodies!'" said Keane. "She was so angry, that it really took all of us aback." Keane says that the group was peaceful, and that the men present were not among those engaging the woman.

"For those of us who are Catholic, to have a member of a religious order so blatantly - it is so disheartening. It really is," said Keane. "She's participating actively in abortion. That is what is so disturbing for us."

Sr. Donna Quinn, OP, is renowned in the Chicago area as an advocate for legalized abortion and other liberal issues.

In 1974 she co-founded the organization Chicago Catholic Women, which lobbied the USCCB on a feminist platform before it dissolved in 2000. She is now a coordinator of the radically liberal National Coalition of American Nuns (NCAN), which stands in opposition against the Catholic Church's position on abortion, homosexuality, contraception, and the male priesthood.

While LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) was unable to reach Sr. Quinn for comment, NCAN's Sr. Beth Rindler confirmed to LSN that Quinn is still a member of their group, which favors unrestricted legalized abortion and disagrees with the teaching that abortion is intrinsically evil. "We respect women, and believe that they make moral decision, and so we respect their decisions," Rindler explained.

In a 2002 address to the Women's Studies in Religion Program at Harvard Divinity School, Sr. Quinn described how she came to view the teachings of her Church as "immoral": "I used to say: 'This is my Church, and I will work to change it, because I love it,'" she said. "Then later I said, 'This church is immoral, and if I am to identify with it I'd better work to change it.' More recently, I am saying, 'All organized religions are immoral in their gender discriminations.'"

Quinn called gender discrimination "the root cause of evil in the Church, and thus in the world," and said she remained in the Dominican community simply for "the sisterhood."

Sr. Patricia Mulcahey, OP, Quinn's Prioress at the Sinsinawa Dominican community, said in an email response to LSN that the nun sees her volunteer activity as "accompanying women who are verbally abused by protesters. Her stance is that if the protesters were not abusive, she would not be there."

Though Sr. Mulcahey claimed that her sisters "support the teachings of the Catholic Church," she declined to comment on Quinn's public protest of Catholic Church teaching.

Joe Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League says Quinn came in contact with his own office in 1982, when she and a group of other pro-aborts picketed his building on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

"She figures it's part of her religion to take these women in and protect them, and get them abortions," said Scheidler of Quinn's recent activity. "Something dreadful has happened to make a Catholic nun become an escort at an abortion clinic - that's the lowest form you can reach, where you escort a woman with a living child in her into a place to have the child killed, and to ruin that woman's soul."

"If I didn't even believe in the humanity of the child - which of course would be crazy - even if I didn't, I would fight abortion for the sake of the women," Scheidler added. "They miss that baby, and they can't get it back. They never can."

Pelosi’s Continuing Dissent from Catholic Church Teaching

Isn't it about time for the heave ho, this witch has defied her Bishop, and lied through her teeth. excommunication is automatic in these circumstances but obviously she hasn't gotten the memo

The Egyptian

By James Todd
Pewsitter.com

Speaker Pelosi continues to dissent from Church teaching, since her meeting in February with Archbishop Niederauer.
October 13, 2009 - Late last year Speaker Pelosi made a couple of rather outrageous statements about the teachings of the Church with regard to abortion and when life begins. Several bishops responded to correct Pelosi’s false statements. There was sufficient outrage among faithful Catholics to prompt Pelosi’s bishop, Archbishop Niederauer of San Francisco, to meet with her in February of this year. The result of that meeting? Pelosi’s spokesman confirmed that a meeting had taken place and that Pelosi was not about to change her position on abortion.

Since that February meeting Pelosi continues to dissent from Church teaching as evidenced by both her public statements and actions. Here is a small sampling of activities by Pelosi since she met with Archbishop Niederauer in February:

On Embryonic Stem Cell Research (April of 2009)
U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed critics of federal funding of life-destroying embryonic stem-cell research with this argument: “We’ve had a situation where it’s faith or science — take your pick,”

Regarding Same-Sex Marriage in California (May)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) deemed the California Supreme Court's decision today to uphold Proposition 8 as "deeply disappointing" in its stripping of marriage rights from same-sex couples.

Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Thru NFPA (June 2009)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Tuesday that taxpayers should be forced to fund the UNFPA even though it has been shown to work closely with Chinese population control officials who subject women to forced abortions and involuntary sterilizations.

TaxPayer Funded Abortions in Washington DC (July)
Representatives on Thursday approved a bill that includes language overturning the longstanding ban on forcing taxpayers to fund abortions in the nation's capital. The vote on the bill came after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi manipulated a vote on rules prohibiting an amendment to stop it.

On Health Care Reform (August)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has subjected herself to criticism for authoring an editorial in USA Today in which she calls Americans who oppose the pro-abortion health care plan before Congress "un-American."

This continued dissent must be placed in a historical context. Mrs. Pelosi was first elected to Congress in 1987. Precisely when her first Congressional vote on an issue that placed her in opposition to Church occurred is unclear. What we do know is that as far back as 1993 her dissent from Church teaching was on public display when she voted against the Hyde Amendment. Three years later congressional voting records show she voted against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. It is clear the Mrs. Pelosi record of dissent goes back at least 16 years, and possibly further. Voting records prior to 1993 are readily available.

Catholics understand and support the behind-the-scenes dialogue and diplomacy that was undertaken by Archbishop Niederauer earlier this year when he met with Pelosi. Most Catholics would prefer to have such issues resolved in this way and not to air our dirty laundry in public. However, when public dissent by prominent Catholics continues not just for years but decades – as is the case with Speaker Pelosi - in spite of the actions and activities that have been undertaken by the current and most likely past archbishops, a line must be drawn in the sand.

The key word in the above paragraph is “public”. If Pelosi’s dissent were behind closed doors or private, it could be dealt with in private. But Pelosi’s very public dissent has created a public scandal – and the only way to rectify a public scandal is to address it publicly.

Bishops who do not withhold communion or institute some other serious, public disciplinary action against such prominent Catholics that obstinately persevere in manifest grave sin, leave the impression such actions are condoned, or at least tolerated, and thereby perpetuate this scandal.

With Pelosi – as well as with many other Catholic politicians - the line in the sand has not only been reached but breached.

We attempted to contact Archbishop Niederauer’s spokesman, Maurice Healy and his assistant - both by phone and email - to ask about the Archbishop’s next step with Speaker Pelosi. There was no response.

Many faithful Catholics see a double scandal here. There is the scandal of a prominent Catholic in public life dissenting from Church teaching and continuing to receive communion. And there is a second scandal which is the unwillingness of Catholic Bishops to address the first scandal in any meaningful, concrete fashion. It appears that Archbishop Niederauer and other bishops have made the judgment that the public scandal to millions of Catholics is LESSER IMPORTANCE than avoiding a public confrontation with ONE or a handful of prominent dissenting Catholics whose actions continue to cause grave spiritual damage.

The Ex Sisters got the gold mine and the Church got the shaft

The Egyptian

from the Catholic Key Blog

http://catholickey.blogspot.com/2009/09/how-to-leave-church-and-keep-deed.html

In 2006, two long-serving Benedictine Sisters from Wisconsin renounced their vows and left their order. The Vatican concurred in releasing them.

Nothing surprising there - Religious leave their orders all the time. What is unique about this case is that the two women figured out how to take all of their former order’s assets with them. In October, a group of leaders from men’s and women’s religious orders will learn how to do the same.

Here’s the background. In 2007, Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Laurie Brink gave the keynote address at the annual convention of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious held in Kansas City. Titled, "A Marginal Life: Pursuing Holiness in the 21st Century"(pdf), her talk looked at different ways various communities of women religious were dealing with decline and evolving. One possible way was to be a “sojourner”:

Sojourners have left the religious home of their fathers and mothers and are traveling in a foreign land, mapping their way as they go. They are courageous women among us. And very well may provide a glimpse into the new thing that God is bringing about in our midst. Who’s to say that the movement beyond Christ is not, in reality, a movement into the very heart of God? A movement the ecclesiastical system would not recognize. A wholly new way of being holy that is integrative, non-dominating, and inclusive. But a whole new way that is also not Catholic Religious Life. The Benedictine Women of Madison are the most current example I can name. Their commitment to ecumenism lead them beyond the exclusivity of the Catholic Church into a new inclusivity, where all manner of seeking God is welcomed. They are certainly religious women, but they are no longer women religious as it is defined by the Roman Catholic Church. They choose as a congregation to step outside the Church in order to step into a greater sense of holiness.

One problem with sojourning “beyond Christ” in a way “the ecclesiastical system would not recognize” is that you have to leave behind the good will of being a Catholic religious sister and begin anew. When you leave the Church, you also leave behind the trappings of the Church – the monastery, the land, the endowment. All of these things were entrusted for an ecclesial purpose and you have chosen to no longer serve that purpose. If you quit the convent, you have to find a new roof.

But the two Benedictine sisters in Wisconsin who wanted to leave their order were in a unique position. They were the last two active members of their community. They had no one to return the keys to. So they took them.

According to the National Catholic Reporter, Benedictine Sisters Mary David Walgenbach and Joanne Kollasch started thinking about leaving the Catholic religious life and starting a way of life the Church would not recognize in 1992. In 2006, they were officially released from their vows.

Between 1992 and 2006, they had a lot of work to do. According to public records, in 1998, they set up a Non-Stock Corporation headed by themselves called the Benedictine Women of Madison, Inc. The new corporation was non-canonical, ie., not connected to or bound by any of the laws of the Church.

In late 2000, the two sisters signed over the deeds for the various parcels of land belonging to their canonical, ecclesial religious order to the non-ecclesial corporation run by themselves. A separate, non-ecclesial foundation was also set up for the benefit of the new Benedictine Women of Madison, Inc.

When the two sisters finally were released from their vows in 2006, they had already transferred the ecclesial property of their order essentially to themselves. They took new vows to their non-Church related order and now run the Holy Wisdom Monastery on the property of their old order’s former high school.

Holy Wisdom Monastery has one other professed member, a Presbyterian minister. They are open to accepting “sisters” of other faiths, but so far no takers. Madison Bishop Robert Morlino has forbidden priests from offering Mass at the monastery, but in late August, they began “sharing the Bread of Life around a common table” at a weekly, inclusive, ecumenical Eucharist at their just-constructed $8 million eco-friendly monastery.

Are there any other religious orders contemplating quitting the Church and taking the Church’s patrimony with them? The Resource Center for Religious Institutes must think so.

RCRI is an organization formed by the merger of two religious resource groups sponsored by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious and the Conference of Major Superiors of Men. At their National Conference on October 23, participating religious leaders will have the opportunity to attend a workshop called “Going Non-Canonical”. It will be led by the former sister from Wisconsin, Mary David Walgenbach, and Benedictine Father Dan Ward, the canon lawyer who helped the Benedictines of Madison quit the Church. Here’s the description, my emphases:

The story of a small Benedictine community’s journey of becoming non-canonical. The content includes their ecumenical ministry, visioning process, development of an ecumenical board, relationship with the Federation of St. Gertrude and canonical and civil procedures for the transfer of assets.

Why would any leader of a religious community need to learn that?

Obama advisor John Holdren: newborns are not fully human

CATEGORY: SESSIUNCULA — Fr. John Zuhlsdorf @ 11:11 am

Who is in the White House? Who are President Obama’s choice advisers?

This from LifeSite with my emphases and comments.

Obama Science Advisor John Holdren Also Said Newborn Baby Not Fully Human

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
July 29, 2009

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com)— John Holdren, the Science Czar chosen by pro-abortion President Barack Obama, has already come under criticism for backing population control and forced abortions. [Get that? Forced abortions.] Now, new information is appearing showing Holdren didn’t believe that newborn infants are fully human.

Holdren co-wrote a 1973 book ,“Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions," with infamous population control advocate Paul Ehrlich in which his view supporting forced abortion appears.

Holdren’s office later denied he held those views. [But… scriptum manet is, I think, the principle here. Mr. Holdren could publicly clarify his views, of course. I think a microphone could be found for him and people might pay attention.]

In another manuscript, Holdren also says a newborn child “will ultimately develop into a human being” if properly fed and socialized. [So, for Holdren, how a person thinks and acts determines the level of "human"?]

“The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food [ummm… does this mean that the under-nourished are not fully human? Are the over nourished, then, super-human? Or do they lose humaness due to lack of what some expert defines as "ideal weight"?] during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being,” Holdren wrote.

Obama chose Holdren to become the director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

According to a report in CNS News, the controversial passage is found on page 235 in the 1973 book in chapter 8, titled “Population Limitation.” The news service indicates the book, written before the Roe v. Wade decision, argued in favor of legalized abortion.

"To a biologist the question of when life begins for a human child is almost meaningless," Holdren argues. [What a monstrous position.] "To most biologists, an embryo (unborn child during the first two or three months of development) or a fetus is no more a complete human being than a blueprint is a building."

Holdren continues, "The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being. Where any of these essential elements is lacking, the resultant individual will be deficient in some respect.”

Holdren also notes that legal scholars don’t view unborn children as human under the U.S. Constitution until “it is born.”

“From this point of view, a fetus is only a potential human being" with potential italicized in Holdren’s book. “Historically, [So… he is a kind of originalist… what an ironic twist…] the law has dated most rights and privileges from the moment of birth, and legal scholars generally agree that a fetus is not a ‘person’ within the meaning of the United States Constitution until it is born and living independent of its mother’s body.”

CNS news indicates Holdren argues for abortion, saying it spares “unwanted children” from “undesirable consequences.” [Such as being born.]

Monster.

I wonder if he presently holds these views.

People can, after all, eventually grow up and develop into a human being.

Just remember… President Obama is committed to reducing the number of abortions. Keep saying that to yourself over and over again.

Polyester Disasters and Sister Pantsuit

The last post brought this to mind a quote from one of my two readers ;>)

"The sisters are great folks, but I often find myself asking how they can separate themselves from the museum that they have upstairs? I mean if the things they did back then were right then- they are right now."

And they have the chutzpa to get upset about an apostolic visitation, what is needed is a witch hunt

I'm baaaaaaaack... Bet you thought I was on an extended hiatus? Not so, Catholic peoples. Mr. Scampers is always scoping out the cultural landscape for those enemies of the One, Holy, Apostolic, Roman Catholic Church. TH2 tells me that he's got a "monster post" against a modern day heretic coming soon, whatever the hek that means. But don't take too seriously that smarmy excuse for a blogger. He's a scoundrel and a punk. I'm the brains behind this operation. So, for your reading and visual pleasure, may I humbly present...

MR. SCAMPERS' GALLERY OF GOOFY NUNS

- OR -

THE UNPARALLELED ADVENTURES OF SIX HABITLESS HUSSIES

3rd Inset: Bill Clinton offering a cigar to Chittister.

Joan Chittister, OSB (Genus: masculus suspectus). Goodness gracious... what have we here? Self-promoter, speaker at conferences on irrelevant issues, Aunt Bea look-alike, columnist for the National Catholic Reporter, author of books nobody reads, social justice jet setter, media panderer, theological hussy - what more could one want in a heretical nun? Tell ya what, superfly, keep doing what you're doing and you're headed for Hades. My guess is that St. Benedict wished you were there when the Allies bombed Monte Cassino... and why does Mr. Scampers now have this peculiar urge to play checkers?

3rd Inset: Better keep a lookout Sis, cuz Team-B16 is coming to get ya.

Sandra Schneiders, IHM (Genus: polyesteris maximus). Ahhhh!, Mr. Scampers sees that the Vatican has dispatched a real nun to the US of A so as to "assess the situation" of your habitless hordes. Doesn't look too good, sweet pea. It's ZERO HOUR. But, then again, who except the anti-Catholic intelligentsia listens to your pathetic secularized, spirit-of-the-world bromides. Tell ya what, my polyester-laden muffin, wipe that phony smirk off your face because your heretical cause is fruitless and doomed to failure. The history of the Holy Church is littered with such 5th rate apostates. [helmet tip to the Caveman for the polyester identifier]

3rd Inset: "In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more... With a rebel yell..."

Joanna Manning (Genus: seditiosus buffoonus). A Canadian catastrophe, feminist fanatic, Billy Idol wanna-be, hipster, a busybody and a barrel of laughs - Manning jumped ship from the Society of the Holy Child in 1970. Ever since this crew cut silver fox, through writings and teaching, has scoured her way through Catholic education, via Stage Left, leaving a trail of disbelief, confusion and hardened hearts. Surprise! Surprise! Manning is involved with United Nations NGOs, liberal "Catholic" clubs and other pantywaist associations. Who would of thunk it? Listen up, girlfriend: some guy named Screwtape keeps calling me and saying that he is "very much looking forward to seeing you". Sleep well, cupcake.

3rd Inset: The Sisters of Sion. What a bunch of happy gals. Talk about pathetic snorefest.

Mary Jo Leddy (Genus: rusticus vulgaris). Yet another de-nunified tragedy from the Great White North. Leddy is a Hannah Arendt wanna-be... you know: the type of army-surplus-store dressing nun who desperately wants to “get involved”. She was a founder of the now defunct newspaper Catholic New Times, a Marxist tabloid that published everything from liberation theology to New Age crapola. Alas, in 2000 she left the "Sisters of Sion" (see inset photo) because "vocation is where your heart is". Sigh... She is now lost and wandering through the bowels leftist academia. Boring, droll, irrelevant and a bad bouffant to boot - this poor creature is now fading into her self-created darkness

3rd Inset: If you only knew how ridiculous you appear. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Gail Worcelo, SGM (Genus: venerator terrarum). Gaia goofball, weaver, liturgical dancer, pantheist and pagan nature worshipper - this excuse for a nun resides at the "Green Mountain Monastery" in the socialistic forests of Vermont. An elusive beast, she is only sighted at dawns early light. There you will find her wallowing in mud pools, gnawing on tree bark, foraging grubs, chasing butterflies and occasionally sniffing the anus of a wandering and rather astonished teddy bear. She is identified by her enigmatic call, which goes: "ka ka ka coo coo ou la la". This malicious breed is a favorite target of heresy hunters.

3rd Inset: Yell all you want my scraggly-haired apostate. Doesn't matter. You dun evil.

Christine Leyser, IBVM (Genus: malignus proditoris). This habitless heretic was made a Member of the Order of Canada for her social work. Outwardly it appears an honor to receive, but really the recipients have mainly been politically correct leftist-liberal brown nosers. This award was gratefully received by Leysner at the same time that it was awarded to Canada's most notorious abortionist, Henry Morgentaler. She was presented it by Governor General Michaëlle Jean (another CBC Fabianist), whom she is seen kissing in the inset photo, just like Judas' betraying kiss to Our Lord. Tell ya what, pumpkin: Have a nice hot meal and a warm glass of milk before retiring tonight. Mr. Scampers is glad to see that your conscious is clear

Am I a Hater ??? Me ? I'm too cute

Just received a letter from a "Diane" with no return address concerning my letter to the editor of the Catholic Telegraph

what I sent

The first two letters to the editor this last issue seems to be an attempt by the authors to rationalize a troubled conscience and excuse the abomination of honoring the most pro abortion president in history. The very idea that the Republican party is behind the uproar is to belittle our Catholic faith and some of our upright Bishops who finally developed the backbone to speak up, if only they had the spine before the election. We as Catholics had better start speaking up before it is too late, all the clap trap about social justice is worthless if the child never is given the chance to experience it. As for myself, Norte Dame is finished as a Catholic school, I would not recommend it to anyone until it gets back to basic Catholic principles
Sue I suggest you read this post listing some of the notorious trustees at ND
just one example, the rest are just as bad, these are Catholics??

There are Notre Dame trustees who directly support Obama administration goals. Dr. Mary Anne Fox is chancellor at UC San Diego and Vice-Chair of the National Science Board. Recently Fox announced the opening of a new research facility where the school will cultivate and experiment on human embryonic stem cells. The laboratory will partner with Scripps Research and the Salk Institute in La Jolla, CA where Fox also sits on the leadership council. In 2007 the Institute hosted a stem cell ethics conference. R. Alta Charo, bioethicist and advisor to the Obama transition team was a key speaker. At UCSD the bio-engineering department has just established a partnership with Tsinghua University in China, to further their research.

By the way Sue, if your criteria is used no one would be able to comment about anything, so, take your own advice.

Corpus Christi in Linz-another giant leap towards leaving the Catholic Church

Catholicism run amuck, wich is more reverent and pleasingto God and less confusing to worishers? the golden monstrance or a giant pair of pointy nose pliers holding a pita bread!

Thanks to Gloria.tv and to Summorum Pontificum for this short film, showing the Dean of Urfahr, Helmut Part at the Corpus Christi procession according to the Rite of Linz.

The Monstrance: an oversized pincer holding a focaccia bread.

What is wrong, to show the Lord of Creation in the shape of bread in this manner? One sees relaxed people standing in the background : They recognise Him no longer, they see only the bread. The Cherubim and Seraphim, Thrones and Powers, who, it is to be hoped, even in this place, accompany the celebration of the mystery recognize His glory and prostrate themselves before Him. The Church in it wisdom traditionally shows us, whose eyes are held, the Body of the Lord in the golden aureole, so we at least suspect, what we see.

The oh-so-enlightened modernists are not only deficient in their fear of God, they also have no sympathy with the people.

The scandal took place in front of the recently reopened Ars Electronica Centre, a high tech IT centre. They have a superb top floor bar and restaurant overlooking the Danube- they also serve foccacia bread!

There is a new artifical arena, created by the new development which was used. In the background, the Parish Church of Urfahr, dedicated I think to St Anne.
The Eucharist using a table as portrayed in Leonardo's Last Supper. Symbolism is correct for this particular Feast, except the modernists responsible for this outrage will believe that every Eucharist is a meal and no longer the Sacrifice identical with that on the Cross.
And look whose lurking in the background between the two priests! Josef Puhringer, the former religious studies teacher who is now Regional Prime Minister, one of the leading anti-Papal conspiritors against the appointment of Father Wagner as Bishop.

Please be polite but he does have five parishes at least where a totally deficient theology of the Eucharist is taught- and I don't think it just those.

This Explains the Secular Attitude of Fr Jenkins

Get a Load of the people on the Board of Trustees of ND, from abortion advocates to con men to community organizers, communist sympathizers to people invested in embryonic stem cell research, No wonder Fr Jenkins is so confused, there does not seem to be a good Catholic on the board or if there are he or she is way outnumbered or just loving the seat and wanting to just get along, you know, peace and justice and all that Happy Clappy Crap

The Egyptian

May 10, 2009 - A great deal of criticism has been leveled at Notre Dame President, Rev John I. Jenkins, for his choice to honor President Obama at this year’s commencement. But Fr. Jenkins, like all university presidents, must consider the will of the school’s governing board. The Notre Dame Board of Trustees is a powerful organization, comprised of top international business owners, chairs of rich endowments, academic leaders, judges, attorneys, faculty, and prominent clergy. These individuals are typically very wealthy, well-connected and highly accomplished; many with broad interests outside the university. A closer look at the board and its affiliations might shed light on just how Notre Dame came to this decision.

Many of the influential alumni on the Notre Dame board are from the nearby Chicago area, and are part of the same Chicago power structure that President Obama ascended. Richard and Peggy Notebaert are leading members of the ND community, and Notebaert is chair of the Notre Dame trustees. While Obama served in the senate, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, received federal funding earmarked by Obama.. Key Obama campaign fundraiser, Frank Clark served on the board of the Notebaert Museum at the time. The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, where ND trustee Arthur Velasquez is on the board, also received millions in earmarks. Velasquez contributed to Obama’s campaigns in 04 and 08.

Chicago power at Notre Dame extends to political posts as well. Justice Ann Claire Williams was appointed by Bill Clinton in 1999 to the U.S. Court of Appeals 7th District. In 2004 she ruled that the Department of Justice could not subpoena hospital abortion records to enforce the ban on partial birth abortions. Left-leaning Chicago politics has a place on the Notre Dame governing board. Currently Ann Claire Williams is receiving serious attention among the top three possible Obama replacements for retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter.

Some Notre Dame board members have made ethical misjudgments in the past. Chicago trustee Philip B. Rooney, Chairman of Claddagh Investments, is former CEO of Waste Management Inc., the world’s largest waste services company. In 2002 Rooney and Waste Management, along with Arthur Andersen, Enron and others, were indicted by the SEC in a massive fraud case. WMI management eventually settled for 30.8 million in penalties. The SEC barred Rooney permanently from being an officer in a public company. He divested most of his own stock before the investigations caused shareholder assets to plummet. Despite this history Rooney retains his board position at Notre Dame today.
ND Trustee Douglas Tong Hsu is chairman of Far Eastern Group, a 32-billion dollar Chinese conglomerate. Hsu’s strong political connections in Taiwan lean toward unification with mainland China. He recently stated that democratic governance is a hindrance to investment, and praised communist China's system for being more favorable to business with its staunch system of rule. In 2006 Hsu was indicted for breach of trust and forgery in connection with a major department store takeover. These charges also involved the Taiwanese first lady, Wu Shu-chen. With Douglas Tong Hsu, the political and business interests of the PRC have influence at Notre Dame. In 2006, ND President Jenkins led a small delegation to East Asia, where they met with Hsu, and travelled to communist Beijing to develop partner programs for the university.

Raymond G. Chambers, co-founder of anti-poverty organization Millenium Promise, serves on the ServiceNation leadership council. ServiceNation is a political group that supports the enormous multiplication of federal national service programs in the Obama agenda, including the just-passed Kennedy Serve America Act. The Kennedy act was touted as the “largest expansion of community and national service since the launch of the Civilian Conservation Corps.” In September, Chambers was a panelist at the ServiceNation Summit as special envoy for malaria, United Nations.

Several Notre Dame board members lead American banks and major investment houses, where the federal government has sunk billions in bailout funds and stock purchases. Robert Conway was head of Goldman Sachs (AIG). Philip J. Purcell was formerly CEO of Morgan Stanley and COO of Dean Witter. Enrique Hernandez Jr. is on the board of Wells Fargo Bank. Business leaders in this sector are under increasing pressure to appeal to the Obama administration, the Treasury Department, and the US Congress for their survival and direction.

In conclusion, a review of the Board of Trustees at Notre Dame does NOT reveal a particularly strong Catholic identity. There are board members whose actions and associations put them in a position directly at odds with Church teaching and in line with the Obama administration. At the Notre Dame board we see a group of well-connected well-heeled individuals from all sectors of society, and at the most prominent levels. Taking a stand against inviting the President of the United States would likely jeopardize membership in the elite club where they travel. Therefore it is highly unlikely that there will be any movement from within the board to rescind invitation to President Obama.

LCWR: prophets of futility & New Age gnosticism

From Domine, da mihi hanc aquam

this explains a lot about the decline of many orders of sisters religious, they are no longer catholic

The Egyptian

Again, waiting for my bowl of coffee to kick in, I did a little browsing on the website of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). They have posted information about their annual assemblies, including the texts of the presidential addresses and keynote speeches.

I read through several of the keynote speeches, and I noticed a couple of themes (that's what we Old Lit Teachers do--look for themes). Here's just a few in no particular order:

1. "Mission": all of the addresses I read (four of them) exhort the sisters to mission. But never the mission of the Church that we would recognize as evangelization, that is, the preaching and teaching of the gospel that Christ gave to the apostles. The mission the sisters are exhorted to take up is always, always some form of left-liberal social engineering disguised as caring for Earth or insuring access to adequate health for women.

2). Insularity: despite the exhortations to "mission," all of the addresses I read include broad descriptions of the history of women religious as a way of "situating" the experience of these women within their own "mission," in other words, they spend a lot of page space on talking to one another about one another's grand innovations after the VC2 and how these innovations are radically different from anything that's come before. There's quite a bit of self-congratulation here, along with laundry lists of excuses why their missions have failed to produce global results. The villian in their failures, by the way, is always the hierarchy. Big surprise.

3). "Prophetic": as a corollary to their mission and insularity, the addresses harp on how "prophetic" women religious are in these innovations. As far as I can tell, "prophetic" means whatever they want it to mean. It clearly does not mean what the Church means by the term. If the examples used are typical, "prophetic" means something like "doing what we please and then accusing the Church of being too traditional, oppressive, and isolated from the world for not following our lead." Beware self-anointed prophets!

4). "We missed out": probably the most interesting theme is what I will call the We Missed Out theme. This theme arises in several discussions of the scientific and technological revolutions of the 20th century. Apparently, this theme is meant to demonstrate the superiority of a modernist worldview over and against a wholly Christian worldview. But what arises is a kind of lament that these women have somehow missed out on the revolutions and long to stir one of their own so as to feel somehow prophetic. I've found a similar theme in recent court opinions allowing same-sex "marriage"--judges too young to have participated in the heady days of near absolute judicial power during the civil rights era of the 60's invent a place for themselves in legal history by making what laws they can from the bench. We want to shine. . .but a light we ourselves generate.

5). Futility: without exception the addresses I read painted depressing portraits of women religious as a tiny rebel band fighting the Sheriff of Rome. As part of the insularity painted by these addresses is a tragic sense of loss and the futility of their "mission" in the face of overwhelming authoritarian oppression by men. Apparently, we are to believe that women religious in the U.S. are guerrilla-fighters engaged in a war of attrition against the Church. Unfortunately for them, the attrition is all on their side. Rhetorically, these portraits serve an important purpose: by painting themselves as righteous rebels fighting a losing battle agaist the Man, the sisters are able to both continue their rebellion and justify their material failures all the while claiming moral victory. Neat, uh?

6). Jesus ain't the Way: also without exception the addresses forthrightly deny Jesus' own claim that he is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As a way of undermining the Church's legitimate mission of evangelization, Jesus becomes just another good guy with a really cool message of pacificism, egalitarian communal life, and a feminist concern for eco-politics. In one address, delivered by Joan Chittister, the arrival of mosques in historically Christian lands is celebrated as a great advance for liberty and the pursuit of religious diversity. She argues that worrying about the decline in numbers of women religious is a "capitalist question" and holds that the the decimation of covents and monasteries after VC2 is a good sign for the Church! Apparently, the complete loss of a discernible Christian identity among some women religious is to be celebrated as a movement of the Holy Spirit and a great advance in human-spiritual evolution.

7). Monotonality: the addresses are uniformly written and delivered by women religious who tell the gathered sisters only what they wanted to hear. There were no addresses that seriously challenged any of the preconceived notions held dear by these women. Without exception. the meme's of "We Are the Future and Our Agenda is of God" is heard in terms of ecclesial revolution and theological dissent. Not one address challenged the sisters to rethink their assumptions along orthodox lines. Not one address asserted a theme, idea, theology, or political notion that would upset or stir the secular feminist pot these women are stewing in. Despite the constant harping on the need for a variety of voices to be heard in the Church and the desperate need for new ideas among God's people, these addresses repeated in predictable loops one stale feminist cliche after another. Ironically, the obstinate refusal to listen to different voices is routinely described as a failing characteristic of the male-dominated Church hierarchy!

8). New Stories: as a result of the We Missed Out theme, the addresses pull on recent developments in cosmology to construct "new stories" about creation, space-time, human evolution, and the role of consciousness in our pursuit of holiness. Of course, none of these new stories read like anything found in scripture, tradition, science, or Church teaching. In fact, the purpose of the new stories is to lay a narrative foundation for a particularly gnostic-feminist view of the human person that "frees" us from the confines of patriarchal thinking by re-situating the human race as just another evolved species living and dying in a vast cosmos. Routinely, the addresses privilege "new cosmologies" over and against our biblical narratives of creation and the end of space-time, and undermine God's Self-revelation in scripture. Rhetorically, the new cosmologies give the sisters a means of defying our Judeo-Christian tradition with the authority of modernist science. Unfortunately, their grasp of the scientific details of cosmology is woefully inadequate, leaving them to play with a pathetic parody of actual cosmological theories.

Let me point out here that the LCWR is a leadership conference. By no means am I attributing these themes or attitudes to all women religious in the congregations that participate in the LCWR. I know sisters in LCWR congregations who fret about the feminist turn of their communities and lament the loss of their Christian identity to trendy New Age gnosticism. Younger women religious aren't buying this anti-Church junk food, choosing instead to nourish themselves on the vast variety of legit Catholic traditions well within the generous range of orthodoxy. My fisking here is directed at the addresses themselves and what they tell us about what the LCWR is hearing and/or wants to hear. As anyone who's a member of a large organization knows: leadership is often way, way out in front of those they lead. . .sometimes too far out. I think this is certainly the case with the LCWR.

I could go on. . .but it's time for another bowl of coffee!

The Vatican has blocked the appointment of Caroline Kennedy as US ambassador, according to reports.

Vatican sources told Il Giornale that their support for abortion disqualified Ms Kennedy and other Roman Catholics President Barack Obama had been seeking to appoint.

Mr Obama was reportedly seeking to reward John F Kennedy's daughter, who publicly gave her support to his election bid. She had been poised to replace Hillary Clinton as New York senator, but dropped out amid criticism that she lacked enough experience for the job.

The Italian paper said that the Vatican strongly disapproved of Mr Obama's support for abortion and stem cell research. The impasse over the ambassadorial appointment threatens to cloud his meeting with the Pope during a G8 summit in Itay in July.

Ms Kennedy, 53, has said that she supports abortion. Raymond Flynn, a former US ambassador to the Vatican, said earlier this week that Ms Kennedy would be a poor choice.

"It's imperative, it's essential that the person who represents us to the Holy See be a person who has pro-life values. I hope the President doesn't make that mistake," he told the Boston Herald. "She said she was pro-choice. I don't assume she's going to change that, which is problematic."

The White House refused to comment.

What To Do With Useful Idiots When They No Longer Serve A Useful Purpose?

The attacks on Christians have just begun, the Catholic Church is the most hated by the Liberal elite because we refuse to bend (at least the true Catholics) alto some Bishops and Priests are more worried about being popular. The media though they had us by the nads with the abuse scandal, I remember reading an editorial from the NYT trumpeting that now we have the Catholic Church were we want them, we can force birth control, women priests and married clergy and acceptance of Gay lifestyle and marriage or we will sue them to death, well we didn't bend. But now its time for round two, grab your rosaries and pray, its going to be bumpy ride.

What To Do With Useful Idiots When They No Longer Serve A Useful Purpose?
The Nazis and the Democrats know...

I know this is kind of a long post, but hang in there with me. It's amazing that the Democrats are using the same tactics as the Nazis. Well... maybe not all that amazing.

Anyhow, Adolf Hitler knew exactly how to get the Catholic laity in Germany and Austria to follow him, as well as ignore the Catholic hierarchy. How? Simple... just promise plenty o' Change and heapin' helpin's of Hope.

Let's begin with what David G. Dalin (who, by the way, is Jewish) had to say in his defense of Pope Pius XII with these specifics; Any fair and thorough reading of the evidence demonstrates that Pius XII was a persistent critic of Nazism. Consider just a few highlights of his opposition before the war: of the forty-four speeches Pacelli gave in Germany as Papal Nuncio between 1917 and 1929, forty denounced some aspect of the emerging Nazi ideology.

In March 1935, he wrote an open letter to the Bishop of Cologne calling the Nazis “false prophets with the pride of Lucifer.”
Hmmm... didn't Bishop Martino of Scranton just state that Sen. Casey should "rescind his abortion vote or else be complicit in 'hideous evil'"? He sure did. History repeats itself, gang.

And what was in the planning stages when the Nazis had had enough with The Pope? Nazi Policy and the Catholic Church by Karol Jozef Gajewski is an excellent article, well worth the read. Here's some of it; (Emphasis mine) ...throughout the 1930s, Pacelli was widely lampooned in the Nazi press as Pius XI’s 'Jew-loving' Cardinal, because of the more than fifty-five protests he sent the Germans as the Vatican Secretary of State.

...the most eloquent testimony is the Nazis’ own. Fascist documents published in 1998 (and summarized in Marchione’s Pope Pius XII) speak of a German plan, dubbed “Rabat-Fohn,” to be executed in January 1944. The plan called for the Eighth Division of the SS Cavalry, disguised as Italians, to seize St. Peter’s and “massacre Pius XII with the entire Vatican”–and specifically names “the papal protest in favor of the Jews” as the cause.
Notice how the Liberal press ridicules the tiny handful of American Bishops who have the 'nads to lay it on the line with baby-killing Democrat politicians? After the name-calling such as 'fetus-lover' no longer shocks, what comes next? The Nazis knew.

And then comes this....

From CatholicCitizens.org; (Emphasis mine) N.Y. Catholics: Dems Trying to Bankrupt Church
2/28/2009 10:00:00 PM
By Richard Lawrence Poe -newsmax.com

Democrats have declared war on the Catholic Church, with new laws that threaten to bankrupt Catholic schools, hospitals, charities and parishes. Thus far, the worst attacks have come in New York.

"We've taken a lot of hits this year," Dennis Poust, spokesman for the New York State Catholic Conference, the policy arm of the state's Catholic bishops, tells Newsmax. "Outside the government, the Catholic Church is the largest provider of health, human services and education in [New York]. But some legislators are so driven by malice that they're willing to see our charities and schools go under."

The Empire State's Democrats are attacking on three fronts.

A proposal to require all hospitals to perform abortions, or lose their state license would put Catholic hospitals out of business.

Major funding cuts for Catholic schools by Gov. David Paterson, who continues to force the parochial schools to run state-mandated programs at their own expense.

An effort by Democratic lawmakers to abolish the statute of limitations on sex abuse lawsuits against the Church, allowing people to sue over decades-old cases in which the alleged perpetrators are dead.

The proposed sex-abuse law applies only to private institutions such as the Church and the Boy Scouts. Public schools are exempt. Yet sex abuse is more common in public schools than in private institutions.

"The physical sexual abuse of students in schools is likely more than 100 times the abuse by priests", concluded a 2002 study by Hofstra University scholar Charol Shakeshaft. It estimated that 6 to 10 percent of U.S. public school students had been sexually abused by teachers and school employees.
Personally, I'd like to see no statute of limitations at all for any sex related crimes. But with that said, when the government designs laws that prosecute one segment of society (The Catholic Church, the Boy Scouts, etc.), but turns a blind eye to another segment (the Teachers Union), isn't that the textbook definition of... dare I say it... official government persecution?

Heil Obama, baby
