The Vatican has blocked the appointment of Caroline Kennedy as US ambassador, according to reports.

Vatican sources told Il Giornale that their support for abortion disqualified Ms Kennedy and other Roman Catholics President Barack Obama had been seeking to appoint.

Mr Obama was reportedly seeking to reward John F Kennedy's daughter, who publicly gave her support to his election bid. She had been poised to replace Hillary Clinton as New York senator, but dropped out amid criticism that she lacked enough experience for the job.

The Italian paper said that the Vatican strongly disapproved of Mr Obama's support for abortion and stem cell research. The impasse over the ambassadorial appointment threatens to cloud his meeting with the Pope during a G8 summit in Itay in July.

Ms Kennedy, 53, has said that she supports abortion. Raymond Flynn, a former US ambassador to the Vatican, said earlier this week that Ms Kennedy would be a poor choice.

"It's imperative, it's essential that the person who represents us to the Holy See be a person who has pro-life values. I hope the President doesn't make that mistake," he told the Boston Herald. "She said she was pro-choice. I don't assume she's going to change that, which is problematic."

The White House refused to comment.

Just one thing!

Regarding Caroline Kennedy and the Vatican’s refusal of her as unfit for the position of ambassador.

“WAY TO GO BIG BENNIE!” (My somewhat personalized name for the Pope.)

We must all unite ourselves to our crucified Lord….especially in this way as shown by Pope Benedict. St. Paul said that “we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block for many”.

And we must be willing to suffer the ridicule of others in order to stand up for Truth! We must be polite and respectful about it but we must not waiver from strongly stating that these behaviors such as homosexuality, adultery, and abortion are acts of evil.

The Vatican has said that all those who support the doctrines of the “Culture of Death” (the phrase coined by Pope John Paul II)are unacceptable to be received by the Church as ambassadors of peace….probably because their views offer no peace to the innocent unborn.

If we are not willing to stand up and refuse those who ignore the mandates of the Christian faith then we “are like a body without a spirit, dead” (St. James). I have heard that Nancy Polosi was also quite surprised to receive chastisement from Pope Benedict (personally) during her recent unannounced trip to the Vatican.

Let us all pray that each of us can show the strength of character to do this each and every day in the little ways we can effect our brothers and sisters.

St. Francis of Assissi (developer of the Nativity scene, but with real animals) once said to a fellow monk “let us go the the town and preach”. So, they went to town helping people to draw water, loading carts, carrying goods, etc. Upon beginning their return to the monastery the other monk said “Francis, I thought we were going to preach to the people”. St. Francis simply replied, “Using even words if you must!”

People are watching us….let us be good witnesses to the hope that is the Christ, Jesus. Let us all stand up for what is moral and let us show our faith in our actions no matter what others may think of us.

Sincerely,
