Small town, Small farm America

A local young farmer, Brad , 22 , Skip to his friends, was killed in a farm accident at home when a forklift removing a disabled skid loader off a truck tipped and pinned him, he was a classmate of my eldest daughter . His father Paul lost his wife to cancer 4 years ago and just 3 weeks ago remarried another farm widow of 8 years, the poor man is despondent, the whole family is in my prayers. After the funeral mass at Precious Blood Catholic Church, (held there because his home church could not hold the crowd), the procession to the cemetery at St Sebastian Parish was greeted by a show of support by the local young farmers association, they have been doing this every time one of their own is claimed by an accident, I drove through shortly before Mass left out, and took these pictures. The combine has his football jersey in the window. I cried my eyes out as I left. Only in small town, small farm America

give me a discription

Today I though I'd present two windows from my home church, St Joesph, Egypt. these are the first two in the main body of the church, these windows have always fascinated me, they seem to be richer in color that most. many I see seem to be washed out but these colors are deep, the one of Christ with the cross was on the shadow side of church when I took this picture so seems really dark compared the the other which is from the sunny side but even it seems to have rich color. I realize the first is of Christ carrying the Cross, but don't know what to title the other, is the woman Mary or someone else, what is the window trying to portray? Any ideas

More Home Church

those were the days, Communion Rail, High Altar, Cassock, Biretta, No " Table", Ties, Dresses, Veils, Lots of Candles, I still love that little country church, St Joesph in Egypt, I still think that it looked better then than now with the all white paint job, used to be shades of rose and gray and tan and painted to give the illusion of depth,

that's me third from left front row, sixth from left died when we were in High School, rest in piece old friend

Home Church

Here is the reason I guess I started this blog, the love of old rural churches and the people that inhabit them this is my family parish, how many can say that today? The church grounds were donated by my Great-Great-Grandfather Johann Adelhard (Alard) Osterloh, from the original homestead, see the accompaning scan from a parish history, by Fr. David Hoying click on the text to enlarge . the window is one of the ones that I spent countless Sundays studing as a child, still believe they are the most beautiful in the area. The parish still survives as a sister paris of St Augustine, in Minster, sharing a priest, following are some pictures from various parish histories also included are some pictures of the interior before Vatican II and some current, unfortunately cannot locate any from my youth maybe later.

somebody please tell me how to move the pictures and text around to get them to stay put were I want them
